In 2020, the Labour Cost Index (LCI) increased by 8.6%, corresponding to increases of 9.2% in the wage costs and of 6.1% in the other costs. The average cost per employee increased by 2.0% and the number of hours actually worked per employee decreased by 5.8%.
In the 4th quarter of 2020, the LCI recorded a year-on-year increase of 6.6%, as a consequence of the increase of 2.8% in the average cost per employee and the reduction of 3.3% in the number of hours actually worked per employee. In the previous quarter the LCI rate of change had been 6.0%.
